4MAT Basic Training

The 4MAT Basic Training book is one of the most comprehensive and effective teaching programs in the world for helping teachers create more dynamic and engaging instruction. It is designed to help teachers transform the quality and impact of instruction by understanding the different ways students learn. This 3-Day CourseBook, includes a full range of instructional activities to ensure that the principles and practices are effectively integrated into a teacher's daily practice. All of our training follows the 4MAT cycle, so you can be assured of the quality and integrity of our teaching designs. This book is designed to train teachers to use 4MAT in just 3-Days. Additional training is required for building level coaches or those wanting to become in house trainers.
Day One focuses on Diversity and understanding how students learn. Specific activities include learner interviews, the LTM self-assessment, Painful learning strategies. creating balanced instruction, and traveling the natural cycle of learning.
Day Two is on conceptualizing instruction and creating brain based learning. Specific activities include: the HMI self assessment, the Horseshoe Activity, The Movie Exercise, The Umbrella Exercise, and the Concept/Content Exercise.
Day Three is on Models. Specific activities include the Mental Models Exercise, The Six Trick (a tool for conceptualizing content), The Complete 4MAT Model, The GameBoard Activity, The Concept Map and group creation of a 4MAT Unit.
This is one of the most practical and effective programs for infusing more effective and efficient teaching methods you will find. But more than that, it is a way of helping teachers completely transform the quality of learning in their classrooms. These are proven to substantially increase student motivation, student engagement and student enjoyment and participation in learning.
Additional training days include The 4MAT Natural Cycle and 4MAT and Assessments.
Both training days are required for those wishing to go on to become Certified 4MAT Trainers.
