4MAT 4 Biology: Bring Science Instruction to Life

Are you looking to infuse more creative methods into science instruction?

With all of the content covered in a Biology textbook, it is often a challenge to find highly engaging and interactive ways of teaching science. In 4MAT 4 Biology, you will discover scores of projects, connect activities and creative adaptations of learning to help create deeper and more fulfilling earning experiences for science students.

About Learning offers several different training options for teachers looking to learn how to implement 4MAT 4 Biologyin the classroom. For teachers with no prior training in 4MAT, we offer a 3-day training and for teachers with prior training, a 2-day training is available. This training is ideal for any science teacher interested looking to create more dynamic and engaging Biology instruction.

The 4MAT 4 Biology course includes 10 different units—all based on the 4MAT Design Process. This will ensure that the information is delivered in a highly effective and proven way. This 2-day session will provide receive hands-on guidance in the instructional projects and activities comprising the 4MAT 4 Biology course. Upon completion, you will be fully prepared to implement this program in your classroom.

What You’ll Get

Every participant will receive one copy of the 4MAT 4 Biology Teacher’s Guide and one copy of the Student Activity Book.

Additional Student Activity Books and or classroom resource kits can also be provided by the district for teachers interested in implementing this program in their classroom.

Joan Baltezore

4MAT 4 Biology Author Joan is a Science teacher and department Chair in West Fargo High School. Joan has taught Biology, Life Science, Microbiology, and Genetics and is always exploring new and innovative ways of getting students excited about science. Joan has received numerous awards for her teaching methods and was the recipient of a National Teaching Award as a result of her dynamic and innovative approach to delivering science instruction to her students.

Julia Koble- 4MAT 4 Biology Author and Senior 4MAT Trainer

Julia’s area of expertise includes Biology, Brain Research and How Students Learn. Julia is a Senior Presenter and Consultant for About Learning and one of just a handful of teachers in the country who can certify other teachers to teach 4MAT. Here are Julia’s thoughts on the 4MAT Process, “4MAT is an effective way to organize instruction to reach diverse students and to make learning more relevant.

Julia is a National Board Certified teacher and currently teaches Biology and Fundamentals of Biology (students with disabilities) to high school sophomores. In 2002, Mrs. Koble was selected as the North Dakota Teacher of the Year. Julia has presented at numerous national and regional science conferences.
